Runners Set For NCAA Midwest Regional

NCAA MIDWEST REGIONAL SITE INFORMATION
CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men’s and women’s cross country will head to Springfield, Mo., this weekend to compete in the NCAA Midwest Cross Country Regional Championships. The Panther men are coming off a second place finish at the OVC Championships while the women were a third place finisher in the OVC meet.
The men’s team will consist of Mario Castrejon, Matt Dettloff, Matt Feldhake, David Holm, Aaron Iaun, Bradley LaRocque and Graham Morris. EIU head coach Geoff Masanet is hopeful that the men can earn a top 15 team finish with 31 men’s teams scheduled to compete. Feldhake was the men’s top finisher at the OVC championships earning second team All-OVC honors with a 14th place finish. Senior Holm was just off the pace with a 15th place showing. The distance for the regional increases to a 10K for the men.
The women’s team will consist of Brittany Arthur, Danielle Dickman,Elizabeth Dole, Gabriela Duenas, Olivia Klaus, Erin O’Grady andStephanie Peisker. Head coach Geoff Masanet is looking for top runners O’Grady and Klaus to possibly crack the Top 50 but notes that many members of the team have been battling illness over the past week. O’Grady earned first team All-OVC honors with a 6th place finish at the conference meet while Klaus was a second team honoree with an 8th place finish. The women’s distance for the regional increases to a 6K with 33 teams entered in the meet.
