Cross Country 5th At Illinois Intercollegiate

NORMAL, Ill. - Eastern Illinois placed fifth in both the men's and women's race on Friday evening at the Illinois Intercollegiate hosted by Illinois State University. The women's event was won by the host Redbirds while Illinois captured the men's title.

EIU was led by Aaron Iaun on the men's side who finished 32nd overall with a time of 25:38. David Holm was the Panthers second place finisher in 58th with a mark of 26:08.

Erin O'Grady paced the women's team coming in 14th overall in a time of 18:27. Olivia Klaus was also a top twenty five finisher for the Panther women crossing in 23rd position in 18:42.

The event featured 30 colleges and universities from the state of Illinois. Krista Heckert of Illinois Chicago was the women's overall champion at 17:37 while Stephen Sambu of Rend Lake College won top honors on the men's side at 23:48.

The remaining men's point scorers included Harrison Bueno in 77th (26:27), Connor Kustief in 82nd (26:32) and Matt Dettloff in 89th (26:39).

The remaining women's point scorers included Brittney Arthur in 39th (19:07), #Erika Ramos3 in 53rd (19:24) and Danielle Dickman in 74th (19:43).

Among the NCAA Division I schools scored in the meet Illinois State won the women's event followed by Loyola of Chicago, Illinois, UIC, EIU, Northern Illinois and Western Illinois. On the men's side Illinois was first followed by Illinois State, Loyola, UIC, EIU and WIU.
