Strong Showing At Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Eastern Illinois athletes made a run at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships as five athletes competed as Saturday's NCAA Last Chance meet hosted by Notre Dame. Two athletes earned first place finishes but fell short of NCAA qualifying times.

Shawana Smith won the women's 200m run with a time of 24.71 which put her #3 on the EIU all-time list.

DeMarcus Brooks placed first in the 60m run with a time of 6.83 while placing second in the 200m run at 21.57.

In the men's 400m run Marcus Williams placed 12th and Brenton Pegues 18th. Ian Winston rounded out the EIU competitors with an 8th place mark in the high jump.
