Track Captures Three Weekly OVC Awards

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois track and field claimed three of the four weekly honors awarded by the Ohio Valley Conference as Zye Boey, Mick Viken and Jade Riebold each won OVC Track Athlete of the Week honors.
Boey picked up three first place finishes over the weekend at the Western Kentucky Hilltopper Relays as he was named the OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week. Boey won the 100m and 200m races as an individual while running the third leg on the winning 4x100 relay squad.
Viken was named the OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week following his record setting performance in the pole vault. Viken won the event at the WKU Hilltopper Relays with a height of 17'8.50” which is ranked ninth in the NCAA. Viken's mark passed his previous school record by nearly an inch.
Riebold broke the EIU school record in the pole vault competing in her first meet of the spring. Riebold won the WKU Hilltopper Relay pole vault event with a height of 12'9.50” and is the OVC best mark in the event by three inches. She was named the OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week.
EIU returns to action this Friday and Saturday competing in the Vanderbilt Invite in Nashville.
