EIU Announces Staff Changes
Tuesday, July 8 2008CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois athletic director Barbara Burke has announced several staff changes for the Panthers athletic department with all changes going into effect on July 1.
The changes include the hiring of Clint Bays and Aaron Haselhorst along with new titles and responsibilities for current staff members Mary Wallace and Rich Moser.
Bays was hired as the Panthers new coordinator of equipment and stadium facilities. He is a certified athletic equipment manager through the AEMA and holds both a bachelor’s and masters degree from Eastern Illinois. Last season he worked as an equipment manager with EIU football.
Haselhorst was hired as a new athletic trainer after working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at EIU the last two years. He holds a bachelor’s from Nebraska-Omaha and masters from Eastern Illinois. During two years with the Panthers he served as the trainer for softball, men’s and women’s tennis and wrestling. He also completed a summer internship with the New England Patriots.
Wallace is expanding her administrative role in Panther athletics as Senior Woman administrator. Wallace had been the women’s head track coach since 2003 and also served as the SWA for the past three years. She was the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor and Outdoor Coach of the Year in 2007. In her role as assistant athletic director and SWA, Wallace will have oversight for men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and softball. She will also handle all gender equity and new hires for the EIU department.
Moser will have a new title as EIU’s director of athletic media and public relations. He just finished his second year as the Panthers sports information director following six and a half years as an assistant sports information director at Gonzaga University. Moser will continue to oversee the EIU sports information department including growth of the Panthers athletic website www.EIUpanthers.com
