JaRod Tobler joined the Eastern Illinois track and field staff in September of 2007 and will serve as the Panthers jumps and vaults coach.

Tobler came to EIU following one season as the assistant track and field coach at East Tennessee State in 2006-07.  During that year he coached six NCAA Regional qualifiers as ETSU won both the men's indoor and outdoor Atlantic Sun Conference track titles.  He also had multiple All-Conference athletes.

As an athlete at Illinois State, Tobler was a standout jumper earning a trip to the 2002 NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2002.  He was also a provisional qualifier for the NCAA's in 2001 for the triple jump.  An eight-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, Tobler was the 2004 MVC Most Valuable Male Track Athlete.

He earned his degree from ISU in December of 2004.
