Panthers Head To The OVC Indoor Championships

Panthers head to Birmingham, Ala., to compete in the OVC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Eastern Illinois indoor track & field teams finished their regular season on a high note as junior MaKenna Wilson broke the EIU indoor shot record this past meet at the EIU Friday night Special. 

PANTHERS TOP-THREE IN THE OVC
With the OVC Championships coming up this weekend, multiple EIU indoor track & field members are currently ranked in the top 3 in their respective individual events.

For the men, Shandall Thomas is ranked first and Anthony Bello is ranked third in the 60-meters. In the 200, Ricky Johnson is ranked first and Payton Powell is ranked third. Riley Baker is in second and Tadiwa Mhonde is in third in the 400.

In the 800, Adam Swanson is ranked third heading into the conference championships. In the mile, Nick Oakley is ranked second and Dustin Hatfield is ranked third. There is less than one second separating first through fourth in this event. In the 3000 Hatfield is ranked second.

In the 5000 Hatfield has been ranked first for the majority of the season heading into the OVC Championships. Jamie Marcos is ranked second right behind him, with eight seconds separating them.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Jekeel Suber is ranked first with his time from the John Craft Invite. In the 4x400 and the distance medley, the EIU team is ranked first in both events.

In the pole vault Mathew Ogilvie is ranked third. In the triple jump, Joe Smith is ranked second and in the heptathlon, Preston Skinner is ranked second.

For the women, Grace Rowan is ranked second and Lindsay Carlson is ranked third in the mile. Rowan is also ranked third in the 3000.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Shanisa Stinson is ranked third and the distance medley team is ranked first. In the shot put MaKenna Wilson is heading into the OVC Championships ranked first coming off of her best throw in her career last weekend.

ABOUT THE OVC INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2020 OVC Indoor Track & Field Championship will be held this Wednesday through Saturday in Birmingham, Ala. This is the second year in a row that the OVC indoor championships have been held at the Birmingham crossplex.

Last the year the men finished in second behind Eastern Kentucky and the women finished in ninth. 

Action for both days at the OVC Indoor Track & Field Championships will begin at 9 a.m.
