Butler Earns OVC Cross Country Honor

Senior named OVC Runner of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Eastern Illinois senior runner

Brad Butler was named the Ohio Valley Conference cross country runner of the week following his performance last Saturday at the SIU Saluki Invite.Butler placed 10th with a time of 26:07.40 on the 8K as the Monticello, Ill., native paved the way for the Panthers strong second place showing at the event.

EIU had five runners finish in the Top 20 as they were runner-up to host Southern Illinois, a ranked team in the NCAA Midwest Region. Butler’s performance helped the Panthers hold off OVC rivals Murray State, SIU Edwardsville and Southeast Missouri.

The Panthers return to action this Friday afternoon at the Notre Dame Invite. This was Butler’s first OVC Runner of the Week honor.
