Orlow, Hatfield, Baldwin Earn All-OVC For Cross Country

EIU women place 3rd, men place fourth at OVC Championships

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois cross country hosted the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Saturday morning at the Tom Woodall Panther Trail.   The EIU women placed third in the meet while the Panther men placed fourth.

Three EIU runners earned All-OVC honors with Chris Orlow earning first team All-OVC honors for the men.  Dustin Hatfield was a second team All-OVC finisher for the men after being named the OVC Male Freshman of the Year at the league awards banquet on Friday evening.  On the women's side Maria Baldwin earned second team All-OVC.

Orlow placed fifth for the EIU men's team with a time of 24:23.3.  Hatfield placed ninth with a time of 24:35.2. 

Marcus Skinner, Michael Mest and Jamie Marcos rounded out the five scored runners for the EIU men.  Skinner was 29th with a time of 25:17.7.  Mest was 32nd with a time of 25:26.2.  Marcos was just behind Mest finishing 33rd with a time of 25:29.8.

On the women's side Baldwin placed ninth for EIU with a time of 17:37.2.  Ali Gutt was 19th with a time of 18:06.2.  Kate Bushue was 23rd with a time of 18:12.4. 

Sadie Elliott and Grace Rowan were the final two EIU scored women's runners.  Elliott was 29th with a time of 18:16.0.  Rowan was 30th with a time of 18:16.7.

Eastern Kentucky won the men's 8K championship followed by Morehead State, Belmont and Eastern Illinois. 

Eastern Kentucky won the women's championship with the first five finishers in the 5K race.  Belmont was second followed by Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.
