TRACK POSTS TOP FIVE FINISHES AT ILLINOIS

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Eastern Illinois track and field posted a solid day of results as the Panthers competed at the Illinois Twilight on Saturday evening.
 
The Panthers posted 19 top five finishes with two first place finishes turned in by senior Julie James and the women's 4x100 meter relay team.
 
James won the women's 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.91.  Teammate Kristen Paris was second in the event with a time of 2:12.64.  On the men's side Michael Brown placed fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:53.62.
 
Chrisford Stevens had a pair of top finishes for the EIU men in the sand jumps.  He was third in the long jump with a mark of 48'2.75".  He was one of three Panthers in the top five in the long jump.  Stevens placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 22'05.75".  Kendall Williams was second in the long jump with a leap of 23'1.75".  Davion McManis was fifth in the long jump at 22'5.25".
 
The EIU women had top five finishes in both the 100 meter hurdle and 400 meter hurdle races.  Darneisha Spann was fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.14.  Tori Master was fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.75.  On the men's side John Piper placed fourth in the men's 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.16
 
Haleigh Knapp and Ashton Wilson both recorded top five finishes in the women's and men's high jump.  Knapp was third in the women's field clearing 5'4.50".  Wilson was fourth in the men's event with a jump of 6'2.75".
 
Nyjah Lane and Jamal Robinson both posted fourth place finishes for the Panthers in the women's and men's 100 meter dash.  Lane had a time of 12.14 in the women's race.  Robinson finished with a time of 10.75 in the men's race.
 
Kaitlyn Ebert and Lexie Yeley had top five finishes in women's field events.  Ebert was third in the javelin with a throw of 116'.  Yeley was fourth in the discus with a mark of 146'10".
 
Adam Kessler and Riley Kittridge both placed in the top five in the men's shot put.  Kessler was fourth with a throw of 55'2".  Kittridge was fifth with a throw of 54'11.50".
 
Maria Baldwin had the final EIU top five finish of the night on the track.  She placed fourth in the women's 5,000 meter run with a time of 17:25.11.
