Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA Team Honor

NEW ORLEANS – Eastern Illinois men's and women's cross country teams were among the 12 overall squads from the Ohio Valley Conference that earned All-Academic team status for the 2015 cross country season from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).   In addition junior Riley McInerney was one of four individuals to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. 
 
Riley earned All-Midwest Region honors placing 24th at the NCAA Midwest Regional event.  Riley has a 3.65 GPA in Kinesiology and Sports Studies.  He was one of four individuals from the OVC that earned individual All-Academic Honors.

Both the men's and women's teams at Belmont, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State and Murray State were honored as were the women's team at Southeast Missouri and Tennessee Tech.

Nationally the USTFCCCA honored 171 men's teams and 205 women's teams at the Division I level. To qualify teams had to have a cumulative 3.00 GPA or greater.

The four individuals earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors included Belmont's Hannah Wittman, Eastern Illinois' Riley McInerney and Eastern Kentucky's Jaime Perales and Amos Kosgey. The quartet was among 160 women and 90 men in Division I who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and have finished in the top 25 finishers (or 10 percent) at regionals or as an All-American at the national meet.
