EIU Finishes Strong At Big Blue Classic

With temperatures hovering in the low to mid 60’s, EIU posted five individual wins including three performances which cracked the EIU career Top 10.
On the men’s side freshman pole vaulter Joe Noonan posted a win with a vault of 16’00.75”. He won the event by more than five inches and moved into sixth place on the EIU career pole vault list. Teammate Dorrian White finished fourth with a vault of 15’01”.
On the women’s side junior Nicole Walcott passed her previous best in the high jump to the event based on number of jumps in a three way tie. Walcott’s mark of 5’06” moved her into 8th place on EIU’s career list. She had tied
The third top performance also came in the women’s side and was posted by the second place finisher. Chandra Golden won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.46, but was far short of her personal best of 14.11 set last season. Second place finisher Charay Savage was close behind at 14.55 seconds which ranks fifth all time at EIU. Samantha Manto, a winner in Friday’s 400 meter hurdles, was fifth.
Kandace Arnold posted the final first place win on the women’s side in the shot put. Her distance of 44’05.25” was nearly two feet better than runner-up Samantha Springer of
Additional top five finishes for the Panther men included Brenton Emanuel with a second place in the 200 meter dash. Chris Wesson placed second in the 800m run and David Holm was second in the 1,500 m run. EIU’s 4x100 relay team finished fourth while the 4x400 relay team was third. In men’s field events Tyler Arnholt was second in the discus with a toss of 155’02”. Ian Winston was fifth in the triple jump and Obe Eruteya was third in the high jump. Aaron Iaun rounded out the top five finishers with a fifth place in the 5,000 meters.
