Panther Men Sit In First At OVC Day One

The Panther men scored 76 day one points to hold a slim eight point lead over Southeast Missouri. Eastern Kentucky was a distance third with 28 points.
On the women’s side SEMO held the day one lead with 72.5 points. EIU was in second place at 64 points followed by Tennessee Tech at 47 points.
Tyler Arnholt picked up one of three EIU first place finishes on the men’s side. Arnholt won the discus with a throw of 173’3” which matched his previous career best.
Scott Mammoser picked up a win in the pole vault at 15’5.75” while Ian Winston was the first place finisher in the high jump clearing 6’9.75”.
Kandace Arnold was a dual winner on the women’s side as she swept the discus and shot put titles on Friday afternoon. Arnold was named the OVC Female Field Athlete of the Year earlier in the day. Arnold won the shot put at 51’1.75”. She won the discus with a throw of 165’7” which was seven feet better than her previous school record.
The OVC Championships resume on Saturday at Tennessee Tech.
