Panthers Turn In Top Track Efforts

DES MOINES, Iowa Eastern Illinois finished off a record setting performance at the Drake Relays as the Panthers claimed on team title on the final day of the historic event.
The mens sprint medley relay team consisting of Darren Patterson,Zye Boey, Marcus Williams and Sean Wiggan combined to win the event with a time of 3:16.99. The relay team just edged Iowa in second place and Wisconsin in third.
The womens sprint medley posted a 15th place finish with a time of 3:59.37 while the mens distance medley relay team was 8th with a time of 9:51.20.
In individual events Zye Boeyplaced 7th in the 100m dash with a time of 10.69 while Tyler Arnholtwas 12th in the discus at 1595.
ILLINOIS STATE SPRING INVITE RECAP
NORMAL, Ill. While a large group of athletes competed for Eastern Illinois at the Drake Relays the Panthers did send a squad to compete on Saturday afternoon at the Illinois State Spring Invite.
Chad Aubin turned in the lone first place finish for the Panthers in Normal as he won the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.02. He was joined with top three finishes on the track by Matt Feldhake, Graham Morris and Eric Pedersen. Feldhake placed third in the 1500m with a time of 4:05.39. Morris was third in the 800m at 1:55.68 and Pederson was third in the steeplechase with a time of 10:14.00.
The remainder of the Panthers top three efforts came on the track.Tarra Grant picked up a second in the long jump landing at 182.50 while Alyssa Donner cleared 106 to place second in the pole vault.
In mens field events Scott Mammoser earned a second place finish in the pole vault at 151. Ty Vandekerkhove was third in the high jump as he cleared 62 ad Bryce Hogan was third in the long jump landing at 224.50.
Eastern Illinois will return to action next Friday and Saturday as the Panthers will defend their Ohio Valley Conference championships at Tennessee Tech.
