Dan Strackeljahn breaks 4:00 in the mile!!!

 

Dan Strackeljahn (EIU Class of 2007) ran 3:59.77 in the Mile tonight at the Music City Distance Carnival in Murphysboro, Tennessee, becoming (as of last count) the 324th American to break 4 minutes in the mile! This is perhaps the most noteworthy barrier in all of athletics - everybody on the planet knows the signifigance of breaking 4 minutes in the mile. In a nutshell, one of the most noteworthy performances ever by a EIU Panther or Alum of EIU Track and Field / Distance Running!!!! Congratulations Dan, from everybody!!

 Also at the same meet, Nicole Flounders (EIU 2007) ran the mile in 4:55.52, to set a PR and just flat out an awesome time! Congrats too, to Nicole!!!! That is just Suuuuper!!
