Cross Country Set For NCAA Pre-Nationals

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's and women's cross country teams return to action this Saturday traveling to the NCAA Pre-National Meet in Terre Haute, Ind., hosted by Indiana State. EIU will run in the White Division race with the men's 8K set for 11:15 a.m. (Central) and the women's 6K set for 11:55 a.m.
The Panthers will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships hosted by Morehead State.
EIU men's team last competed in the Notre Dame Invite finishing sixth in the men's Gold Division. Senior Pablo Ramirez led the Panthers in that race with a 14th place finish.Mike Hesslau has turned in a solid senior campaign as he was 39th at the Notre Dame Meet. Earlier this year Hesslau was the OVC Cross Country Runner of the Week after winning the EIU Walt Crawford Open.
The women's team was 12th at the Notre Dame Invite in the Gold Division as the Panthers have been paced by a group of young runners this season. Sophomore Victoria Quarton was the highest EIU finisher at Notre Dame in 38th place. Freshman Emily Brelsfoard was 40th in that race. Earlier in the year Brelsfoard was the OVC Cross Country Runner of the Week for her season opening performance at the EIU Walt Crawford Open.
