Cross Country Set For NCAA Regional

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's and women's cross country will return to action on Friday competing at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Springfield, Mo. The women will run the 6K distance beginning at Noon with the men's 10K race beginning at 1:15 p.m.
The EIU men are coming off a second place finish at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships where Pablo Ramirez and Bryce Basting both earned first team All-OVC honors. Danny Delaney was a second team All-OVC finisher at the conference championships. The EIU men enter the race ranked 14th in the Midwest Region. This will be the first time this season that EIU has run at the 10K distance. The Panthers placed 16th at the NCAA Regional last year with Basting placing 68th.
The EIU women placed third at the OVC Championships with Olivia Klaus and Britney Whitehead earning first team All-OVC honors with second and third place individual finishes. Stephanie Peisker was as second team All-OVC finisher at the conference championships. This will be the second race this season at the 6K distance for the EIU women. Klaus set the school record at the 6K distance with a 10th place finish at the Bradley Classic. Last year EIU placed 18th at the NCAA Regional with Erika Ramos placing 49th.
