MEN'S TRACK ADDS FOUR STATE QUALIFIERS TO ROSTER

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's track & field has added four state qualifiers with two of them winning state championships as seniors.  EIU director of track & field Brenton Emanuel announced the four newcomers to the Panthers roster for the 2019 season.
 
Ronald Reed, Jekeel Suber, Matt Ogilvie and Steven Rowe will be in action for EIU men's track & field this upcoming school year.
 
Reed competed at Decatur MacArthur HS winning the IHSA Class 2A State Championship in the 100 meter dash as a senior.  He posted a finals time of 10.72.  His season best 100 meter time of the year came in the state championship prelims with a time of10.59.  In addition Reed finished seventh in the 200 meter dash at the state championships with a time of 22.32 and ran the anchor leg for Decatur MacArthur as the 4x100 meter relay team was seventh in the state.  Reed advanced to the IHSA Class 2A State Championships in the 100 meter dash as a junior.
 
Suber is from St. Louis and competed at Parkway North HS where he was the Missouri Class 4 State Champion in the 110 meter hurdles as a senior.   His finals time in the event was 14.13.  Suber also advanced to the State Finals in the 300 meter hurdles and 200 meter dash.  He was seventh in the state in the 200 meter dash with a finals time of 22.42.
 
Ogilvie competed in the pole vault at Oswego HS advancing to the IHSA Class 3A State Championships as a senior.  He placed fifth in the state clearing a height of 14'9" at the state finals.  Ogilvie won the 3A Plainfield South Sectional with a pole vault height of 15'.
 
Rowe competed at Marist HS in Chicago advancing to the IHSA Class 3A State Championships in the high jump as a senior.  He was the 3A Berwyn-Cicero (Morton) Sectional Champion clearing a height of 6'6" which set the Marist school record.  His father Steve Rowe was an All-Conference basketball player for the Panthers from 1988-92 helping lead EIU to the 1992 NCAA Division I Tournament.
